Location: Muda Processing Platform (MDPP)
Scope: Deck extension and air compressor package installation
Services: Lifting engineering, outrigger design, rigging engineering and supervision
Equipment: Four engineered outriggers, beam clamps and chain hoists
Execution: CR3 team, supervised by Conbit
Installing additional structures and equipment on an offshore platform requires careful planning and tailored lifting solutions. For the Muda Deck Extension and Compressor Installation project, Conbit provided specialist engineering support to CR3 to facilitate the installation of a two-part deck extension and an air compressor package on the east side of the Muda Processing Platform (MDPP). The Muda Processing Platform is operated by CPOC in the lower part of the Gulf of Thailand.
The deck extension was installed on the lower deck, at elevation +14.500 TOS, providing the designated location for the compressor package.
Working alongside CR3, Conbit was asked to engineer the outriggers and rigging arrangements required to safely and efficiently complete both installations.

Conbit designed four dedicated outriggers to support the lifting operations. Using the platform crane, the client lowered the loads onto the engineered outriggers. From there, beam clamps and chain hoists were used to manoeuvre the components into their final positions.
During the generator installation, the actual centre of gravity (COG) was found to differ from the position indicated on the original drawings. This resulted in the generator hanging at an angle during the lifting operation. Conbit responded by adapting the lifting configuration to accommodate the actual load characteristics, allowing the installation to proceed.
With a particularly tight project deadline, efficient coordination and practical engineering solutions were essential. Through close cooperation between the CR3 team and Conbit, the installation was successfully completed within the required timeframe.
The CR3 team carried out the installation, with Conbit providing engineering expertise and on-site supervision throughout the project.
This project demonstrates how well-engineered lifting arrangements and an adaptable approach can help deliver complex offshore installations, even when working under demanding time constraints.
