Titan Offshore Cranes have long been a cornerstone of offshore lifting operations. This page outlines the history of Titan Industries, its merger into Sparrows Group, and how Conbit continues to support operators of Titan cranes, despite not owning the original intellectual property. We also highlight the various Titan crane models that shaped offshore lifting standards.
Titan Industries, a U.S.-based manufacturer, earned global recognition for its robust hydraulic marine cranes. Their product line included the MK-series cranes, such as the MK35, MK60, MK100, and MK120, each designed to meet specific offshore lifting needs. These cranes were widely deployed on oil platforms across the Gulf of Mexico, Southeast Asia, and India, known for their reliability, modular design, and ease of maintenance. Titan's cranes became synonymous with durability in harsh offshore environments.
In 2003, Titan Industries merged with American Aero Cranes and Sparrows Offshore Services to form Energy Cranes International. This merger, backed by London Merchant Securities, aimed to consolidate manufacturing expertise with global service capabilities. Titan's crane designs and intellectual property were eventually absorbed into Sparrows Group, now operating as Altrad Sparrows. While the Titan brand name faded, its engineering legacy continues through Sparrows support of MK-series cranes and other models.
Although Conbit does not hold the intellectual property rights to Titan cranes, our offshore engineering team is well-versed in maintaining and upgrading these legacy systems.
We provide:
- Reverse-engineered spare parts for MK-series cranes
- Structural assessments and lifting studies
- Maintenance and inspection services
- Retrofit solutions to extend operational life
Our experience with offshore lifting and legacy equipment ensures that Titan cranes, whether MK60 or MK120, remain safe, compliant, and operational.
