Italgru has been a trusted name in offshore and port crane technology for over 70 years. This page explores the company's history, its diverse crane models, and how Conbit supports operators of legacy Italgru cranes with engineering, maintenance, and upgrades, even without owning the original intellectual property.
Founded in 1954 in Italy, Italgru began by manufacturing mobile truck cranes and quickly became a recognized supplier to the Italian military and industrial sectors. By the 1980s, Italgru had expanded into rubber-tyred mobile harbour cranes and offshore pedestal cranes, delivering solutions for bulk cargo, containers, and conventional loads. In 1995, Italgru was acquired by Bonfanti, combining decades of mechanical and hoisting expertise.
Today, Italgru's offshore crane portfolio includes:
- TS Series: Rope luffing lattice boom pedestal cranes, available in diesel-hydraulic or electro-hydraulic configurations.
- TC Series: Compact cased boom cranes for small offshore rigs, with capacities from 2 to 10 tonnes.
- IMHC Series: Mobile harbour cranes like the IMHC 1360, 1580, and 3160, designed for port and terminal handling.
Italgru has delivered over 1,500 cranes worldwide and continues to innovate with integrated electronic control systems, CAN bus technology, and touchscreen interfaces.
Although Conbit does not hold the intellectual property for Italgru cranes, our offshore engineering team is highly experienced in supporting these systems.
We offer:
- Reverse engineering for critical components
- Structural assessments and lifting studies
- Maintenance and inspection services
- Retrofit and upgrade solutions
Whether it's a TS1200 operating on a Saipem platform or a TC-series crane on a compact rig, Conbit ensures these systems remain safe, compliant, and operational, extending their service life and minimizing downtime.
